December 13th, 2004
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees, Village of Remsen met on December 13th, 2004, at 7:00 pm at the Village Hall on Pine Street in the Village.
Those present were: Mayor Bob Cunningham, Trustees; Stephen Allen, Lisa Beagle, and Peter Billard. Also attending were; Attorney Jim Moseman, Fred Cassidy, Steve Hunter, John Secor, Al Heywood, Stella Holl, Mary Ann Bartholomew, and George Massoud.
The minutes were read and a treasurer's report was given. Balances were as follows: General Fund -$128,775.12,Water Fund -$6,964.78, Sewer Fund -$68,393.07, Money Market -$187.89, Chips -$4,370.75, General Truck -$23,342.22, Emergency Services -$18,503.85, ESCIF -$84,064.00, WECIF -$24,619.21, SECIF -$53,725.06, Street Repairs -$18,188.64, and Water Capital -$1530.36.
Lisa made the motion to approve them. Seconded by Peter. All approved and carried.
Bills of the month were audited and a motion was made by Stephen to pay them. Seconded by Peter. All approved and carried.
The Clerk will pay Shufelt's bill minus our credit due.
George Massoud wants a waiver of water and sewer rents and penalties on the Stella Holl's property so she won't lose the previous Village Exchange building to taxes. The Mayor told them we will discuss this and get back to them.
John Secor discussed the low income - senior housing. Possible locations as to where to put the building was discussed. Two locations off of Lincoln Ave were discussed and the Maple Ave. location also.
The owners of these possible sites were also discussed.
A meeting will be held with Occatado on Thursday at 1130 a.m.
Peter made the resolution that Stella Holl's request that we rescind back water and sewer relevy charges for the years 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003 be denied. Seconded by Lisa. All approved and carried with a vote of 3 - 0. Wendy was absent.
Steve Hunter gave us local laws that other communities have adopted on outside wood burning furnaces.
Fred spoke of Alan's surgery. He gave John the water paperwork.
Letters are to be sent to return request receipt requested to the Harringtons, Counihans and the Geers. Is there heat on in these houses? We need a response by December 29th, or we will just shut it off.
Fred told of a new water line into Phil William's garage.
Fred does not want water calls and complaints to go to him.
School tanks have been pumped.
The Mayor asked about extending the parking lot back more.
Fred will get figures on a thawing machine.
The Board is to send $50.00 to the Donald & Marie Seubert Scholorship Fund.
Jim told the Board that we closed with the Fire Truck.
He also told that the Bank of America is not loaning monies to municipals in Upstate New York.
Bob made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:10. Seconded by Lisa. All approved and carried.
