Minutes
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees Village of Remsen met on January 3rd, 2000, at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall on Pine Street
Those present were: Mayor Bob Cunningham, Trustees: Wendy Piekielniak, Stephen Allen, Peter Billard, and Lisa Beagle. Also attending were: Tom McDonald, Tim Dunn, Gerry Ritter, Steve Hunter, Attorney Jim Moseman and Fred Cassidy.
The minutes were read and a treasurer's report was given. Balances were read as follows: General $43,042.22, Water $20,755.06, Sewer $78,041.48, Emergency Services $6,876.93, Money Market $172.69, Chips $938.78, WECIF $26,786.94, ESCIF $18,507.04.
Wendy made the motion to approve them. Seconded by Peter. All approved and carried.
Bills of the month were audited and a motion was made by Wendy to pay them. Seconded by Peter. All approved and carried.
The annual caucus is to be held between 49 days to 56days prior to the Village Election.
Stephen made the motion to have the Village Caucus on January 26th, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. Seconded by Lisa. All approved and carried.
Tim Dunn spoke to the Board of our insurance policies. Our concerns as to if we are covered if struck by lightning are all covered under a Break-down policy. It will cover all water plant problems up to a quarter of a million dollars with a thousand dollar deductible.
Steve spoke of the Digital Towpath Project & the Income Survey. He will call to get the results on the survey.
Fred talked to the Board about being bonded when we have breaks on state roads. This could run from $150 to $200.
He told of leaks at Shufelts and Hegemans. We also had leaks in our tank.
He also told of bugs at the Sewer Plant. He will check will Joe Johnson about bug control.
The Clerk told of a leak from the upstairs bathroom down into the coat closet.
Tom is starting on the Fire Contracts. He said that he will approach Trenton & Boonville this year. He said we could lose the Town of Russia. He told that the Fire Company needs EMS equipment. They also need to have physicals for about 15-20 guys. 6-8 have physicals at their own work.
Jim spoke of the Adirondack Drilling bill remaining that Hud refused to pay. He said the Village was charged $100 an hour for 3 wells. This means $300 an hour for one man. A valve costs $40 and we were charged $80. On these bills we only paid what Hud would let us. The remaining amount is $3,839.27. Jim will respond to Adirondack Drilling.
Between Wendy and the Clerk they found information on the income survey. The median income was $13,881.00.
George McCulloch informed the Board that Gary Kerr say that we need an audit on Phase I and II. Jim will call him to see what year needs to be audited.
Bob expressed an interest in making a Village directory.
The Clerk is to check to see if Larry Manning's water has been shut off. She is also to check to see what the balance is on his bill.
A representative form the Methodist Church will be at our February meeting.
Lisa made the motion to recess the meeting until January 26th, at 7:00 p.m. Seconded by Peter . All approved and carried.
